STATE GOVERNMENT
Ripe for reform
For years, New York State government has been criticized as bloated, corrupt and ineffectual. In 2004, a report on legislative rules by the Brennan Center for Justice concluded that New York had the “most dysfunctional” legislature in the nation. Since then, the rallying cry of critics and candidates has been to reform Albany. But how? Find out where New Yorkers stand on state government:
We asked respondents to rate the job that state government is doing in passing the state budget on time, keeping state government free of corruption, managing state debt, and promoting fair and open elections. We also asked in general if they thought state government is doing an excellent, good, only fair or poor job in dealing with the issues they consider most important.
